Cleanse the Temple of Bitterness of Heart By: Pastor Femi Adebajo Text: Mark 11: 15-17 15 So they came to Jerusalem. Then Jesus went into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. 16 And He would not allow anyone to carry wares through the temple. 17 Then He taught, saying to them, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’ • Jerusalem – Place of peace • Temple – We are the temple of the Lord – 1Cor. 3:16; 1Cor.6:19; 2Cor. 6:16 & 1Peter 2:5 • Buying & Selling – The sellers have established themselves in the temple by having tables & chairs. • What are the items of sales – Bitterness, un-forgiveness, Doubt & Unbelief, Fear, Jealousy & Envy, Lust and Pride • Bitterness divert your focus and strength from your God given assignment thereby making the person miss his/her destiny. • Bitterness blind someone to opportunities thereby brings about failure and frustrations in the life of the person • Bitterness is symbolic of affliction, misery, and servitude often producing pains, sorrows and grief. • Bitterness remembers details. It starts with hurt, then resentment, hatred and may lead to murder of the offender or yourself. • Bitterness does not forgive • Bitterness can still continue even after the death of the offender • My house shall be a house of prayers which entails –  Talking to God  Hearing from God  Praising & Worshipping of God. What should be done? 1. Invite Jesus into your life if you have not done so already 2. Surrender all to Him 3. Forgive all including yourself 4. Let Jesus do the cleansing 5.
