A New Dawn Comes with Opportunities By: Pastor Pastor Femi Text: Matthew 25:1-13 1 “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. 6 “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ 7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. 11 “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ 12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming. 1. All human beings are equal in the sight of God -Romans 2:11 2. We all start life as a baby born of woman -Ecclesiastes 10:7 3. The world & God classify you based on what you do or fail to do -wise (those who fill their lamp with oil) & foolish (those carrying empty vessels) – Deuteronomy 32:28-29, Ecclesiastes 9:10 4. No matter how strong, you are there are still some areas of weakness in your life -James 5:17 5. Delays normally make man weary, however, it does not mean denial -whatever is good is always worth the waiting. -Galatians 6:9 6. Opportunity may come when it is unexpected Luke 12:39-40 7. When opportunity comes you still need to go out to get it -2 Peter 1:10-11 8. It is only those who can control their flesh that can take advantage -Galatians 5:22-24 9. The unprepared will be caught unaware when the opportunity comes -Proverbs 12:20 10. Do not expect the world to bail you out for failing to plan -Proverbs 13:4 11. The door of opportunity is never permanently open 12. Be ever watchful – prayerful – 1 Thessalonians 5:17
